LEWISTON – A surprise 50th wedding anniversary party was held recently for Elmer and Anita Madore of Lewiston.
The couple was married Nov. 23, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn.
On Nov. 17, the couple’s two children and nine grandchildren surprised them at the American Legion Hall in Auburn. A three-tier anniversary cake wrapped with gold ribbon and topped with a miniature ceramic statue of the couple dancing, was served.
More than 85 relatives and close friends attended the party, including their four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Cadence, Elissa and Madison. A toast was written by the couple’s eldest granddaughter, Kimberly Nadeau, and was read by the couple’s second eldest granddaughter, Jessica Madore.
The tables were decorated with white linen, glass slabs down the center and fall leaves on the top of the glass. Decorative baskets with fall-colored wildflowers served as centerpieces. A coffee spice votive candle was placed at the end of each table and all the tables had a disposable camera to capture all the memories.
Their children are Robert and Rita and their nine grandchildren are David, Kimberly, Jessica, Christopher, Haylee, Ryan, Hollie, Angie and Elizabeth.
