AUBURN – A surprise party was held July 7 for Christo and Pauline Simones of Auburn, on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
The event was planned by their four children, Harry Simones, Elaine Simones, Christine Sirois and Roxanne Dionne, and was held at Schooner Estates, where the couple resides. The couple received many gifts and many family members attended.
Mr. Simones and the former Pauline Danforth were married June 8, 1947, at the Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston. In addition to their children, the grandchildren of the couple are Stacy Trundy, Wesley and Chelsea Dionne and Lindsay Sirois. They also have a great-grandson, Cade Robert Trundy, who also attended the party.
Mrs. Simones served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, stationed at Cherry Point, N.C. She also worked for the CIA in Washington, D.C., during World War II. She also worked in the guidance office as a secretary at Edward Little High School, and probation and parole and veterans services, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Simones served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was wounded in combat. He worked for the Auburn Post Office as a mail carrier and RFD carrier for 38 years, retiring in 1983.
