RUMFORD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust is leading their fourth annual Whitecap Gourmet Hike on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Whitecap trail head in Rumford, said land trust member Jolan Ippolito.
The free hike will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Whitecap trail head located off East Andover Road.
Ippolito said that if hikers wish to find the trail head, they should take Route 5 north from Route 2 in Rumford for 3 miles, turn right to cross the first bridge, and turn left on East Andover Road.
“They’ll find the parking lot 200 yards on the left,” Ippolito said.
Ippolito added that the hike is “moderately strenuous” and that those interested in participating should “bring water, hiking and rain gear and a gourmet dish of choice to share with other hikers.”
Those interested in the hike should call 824-3806 or send an email to mlt@mahoosuc.org, Ippolito said, so that the land trust will have an idea of how many hikers are participating. Last-minute hikers are still welcome to join, Ippolito added.
