GREENE – Walter and Esther Bates recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary at their home in Greene, surrounded by family.

They were married Oct. 25, 1941, on Mr. Bates’ birthday, and the event was a double celebration. This is a milestone in their lives. They continue to be loving, supportive parents, as well as brother and sister and grandparents to many, and they continue to bring so much joy to the lives of their family.

Mrs. Bates’ motto has been always to embrace the day with laughter and that was the theme of the celebration for the day. Lots of laughter could be heard throughout the Bates homestead.
