AUBURN — Two certificates were recently awarded to Henry R. Gilbert.

Commander Jerry DeWitt, American Legion Post 22, presented a certificate of appreciation, which reads: “In recognition of his honorable service during World War II, in the armed forces of our country. We the American Legion Department of Maine express our sincere appreciation of your sacrifice, courage, and dedication to your service to our communities, State and Nation. We are proud to call you comrade and thank you for your contribution in the defense of freedom and the American Way.”

A certificate of continuous membership was issued which reads: “In great appreciation for faithful and dedicated allegiance to the ideals of the American Legion. Let it be known that Henry R. Gilbert, American Legion Post 22, Department of Maine, has been certified to have been a member in good standing continuously for 66 years and be it further known that such record of consistent loyalty to the American Legion merits the honor of being cited as an outstanding contributor to the accomplishments of the programs of the American Legion.”

Both certificates were given under the hand of the Department Commander John Hargreaves and duly attested by the Department Adjutant Paul L’Heureux, Waterville.

Assisting in the recognition was Dan St. Pierre, commander, Post 153.
