BRADENTON, Fla. – Glenn and Carole Swope of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Auburn, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently, with a gathering hosted by their children in Florida.

Mr. Swope and the former Carole Tempest were married on Dec. 28, 1955, at the York Street Congregational Church in Newport, Ky.

Their children are Steven Swope of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Priscilla Roggenkamp of Alliance, Ohio, Nancy Sowders of Hudson, Ohio, Linda Linnell of Portland, and Tim Swope of Lambertville, N.J. Their grandchildren are Tyler and Travis Sowders, Ben, Hannah and Rachel Swope, Sarah Wilson, Shawn and Alexa Roggenkamp, Sam and Matt Swope, Kailyss Linnell, Sissy and Troy Sowders, and Dan and Kim Weigel.

Mrs. Swope was a private music tutor and public school music teacher in Maine and Ohio, retiring in 1996. She is a graduate of Northern Conservatory in Bangor and Vermont College. She was active in L-A Community Little Theater and “Reach to Recovery.” She is currently active in supporting school arts programs.

Mr. Swope was a UCC minister in Maine and Ohio, retiring in 1996. He is a graduate of Lake Erie College and Bangor Theological Seminary. He was active in L-A Community Little Theater and is currently active in supporting community arts programs.
