NEW GLOUCESTER – The wedding of Rebecca Lynne Hamilton and Joshua Allen Mercier was held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the First Congregational Church in New Gloucester.

Mrs. Mercier is the daughter of Jeff and Joyce Hamilton of New Gloucester. Mr. Mercier is the son of Peter and Karen Mercier of Leeds.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white floor-length gown with beads on the bodice and on the side of the gown, with a beaded headpiece. She carried a bouquet of purple and white flowers.

Devan McKay was maid of honor for her friend and bridesmaids were Audra Mercier, sister of the bridegroom, Kim Thompson, Tiffany Perry, Heather Perry, friends of the couple, Shannon Hamilton, sister-in-law of the bride, and Trina Tripp and Jessica Plummer, friend of the bride. Ashley Pelletier, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

Mike True, friend of the couple, performed the duties of best man and ushers were Nick Melanson, Kellen Chan, Zack Morse, Matt Reed, Shawn Biron, friend of the couple, Chris Hinkley and Joey Hinkley, cousin of the bridegroom. Zack Dionsio, friend of the bride, was ring bearer.

A reception followed at the AMVETS Hall in New Gloucester, after which the couple took day trips for a week. They are residing in Auburn.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School and is employed at TD Banknorth NA in Lewiston.

The bridegroom is a 2002 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and is employed at Northland True Value in Turner.
