MINOT — Police this past weekend arrested a Boston man they said was connected to a home robbery in Minot last summer.
Ishmael Douglas, 27, was arrested by Maine State Police troopers in Augusta on Friday. He was charged with robbery and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and taken to Kennebec County Jail.
Douglas was the third person arrested who police said was connected to the Aug. 2, 2013, robbery at a home at 340 Garfield Road.
At about 11 p.m. on that date, police got a 911 call saying there were “a number of robbers inside the home who were armed with guns” holding people hostage inside the home, according to a Tuesday news release.
Cyril Anduze of Auburn and Jamel Horrobin of New York City suffered minor injuries during the robbery and were treated at the scene. The home’s owner, Ross Tardif, was not there at the time of the robbery, police said.
Police recovered drugs, money and firearms from the home. They arrested Victor Lara, 30, of Augusta and Kourtney Williams, 24, of Boston and charged them with robbery and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. They were taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
A fourth person, who police believe drove to and from the robbery, was interviewed. Police said charges against that person are likely.
“We are confident that everyone involved in the home invasion has been identified and taken into custody,” state police Lt. Walter Grzyb wrote in a news release. “We hope this brings some relief to the residents of Minot.”
He said the crime was not a random act.
Maine State Police Troop B investigators were assisted by several agencies, including police in Auburn, Lewiston and Augusta, as well as the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Maine State Police Intelligence Unit.
