RUMFORD — Rumford Elementary School will host its 21st annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, with proceeds paying for school functions and programs, teacher Linda Howe said.

Howe, who has been involved with the fair since it began, said community members can contact the school about renting space to sell their crafts.

Among the crafts available this year are knit wear, jewelry, cloth handbags, wooden items, goat soap, doll clothes, and homemade jams, jellies and pickles.

Howe said students will have a chance to make their own crafts to sell.

“Every year, the kids have a chance to make something and put it up for sale,” Howe said. “We like to tell the kids that this is a good way for them to help the school. All of the proceeds get poured back into the school, whether it’s toward a field trip for the students, new playground equipment or other special events.

“Sometimes, the kids will make something, go in to buy the item at the craft fair and somebody’s already bought it,” she said. “It’s become a good fundraiser for the school.”

The ABC Cafe will sell refreshments, including chili, chowder, hot dogs and pizza.

“The ABC Cafe is a recent addition to the craft fair,” Howe said. “It gives people a chance to sit down and relax while shopping and looking at the different craft tables.”
