Mike Cunningham, the Lewiston fistic debater, was the hero on the ice Saturday evening when he rescued a young lad from drowning. Another bus firm operator interested in local transit company operations talked yesterday with Alfred Sweeney, general manager of the Lewiston-Auburn Transit Co.
The visitor was Kenneth Hudson, of Boston, president of the Hudson Transportation Co. which now operates a service at Bangor. Sweeney said Hudson showed interest but no commitments were made.
Mayor Romeo T. Boisvert said yesterday that some results of talks here may be seen in the next day or so.
It was reported that two Auburn shoemen would be willing to invest $10,000 and $15,000 each in a new firm that might be formed by transit company employees and Brunswick Transportation Co. officials.

AUGUSTA – Beginning Maine’s moose hunt two weeks later this year should reduce the risk of warm-weather meat spoilage and improve the hunt, according to state wildlife officials.
Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Glen Manuel has approved Oct. 8-13 as the dates for the 1984 season.
Also approved recently were regulations that keep Maine’s state parks closed to moose hunting and allow other hunting to take place during the moose season.
