FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to hire Mary Richards of Industry to fill the vacant, part-time clerical position for county offices at the courthouse.
Richards will also help in the District Attorneys Office if needed, county Clerk Julie Magoon said.
She will be paid $11.64 an hour.
Richards replaces Victoria Parker of Kingfield, who took a clerical position with the county jail.
Commissioners also voted to donate an older van, previously used as a transport vehicle for inmates, to Regional School District 9, which serves 10 towns in the Farmington area.
Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said they tried to sell the small Windstar passenger van that has been driven more than 160,000 miles — but nobody bid on it.
“They were glad to take it,” Magoon said of the school district.
The van has already been decommissioned and cleaned, Nichols said.
The county bought a new transport van for the jail last year and has a second van.
Commissioners also voted to reschedule an tax abatement appeal for Dummer Camps Inc. in Weld to March 3. They had previously scheduled it for Feb. 3, but an owner could not make it.
