For the first time, a Mother and Son Valentine Ball will be held to benefit Lewiston’s nonprofit  Public Theatre. At 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 15,  the Ramada Inn will host the kickoff event. The 19th annual Father and Daughter Valentine Ball,  highly successful local event for two decades, will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Ramada.  The Mother and Son event will include refreshments, dancing,  raffles for mothers and sons, a professional photographer to memorialize the outing, and special surprises throughout. “Mothers in the greater Lewiston-Auburn community have lamented to us that an event like our popular Father and Daughter Valentine Ball hasn’t existed for them. As a mother of two small boys, I felt drawn to provide this opportunity to create special mother/son memories, while supporting a great cause,” says Paige Holmes, development director at The Public Theatre. Tickets may be purchased at www.thepublictheatre.org, at The Public Theatre on 31 Maple St. in Lewiston, and by phone at 782-2211. Tickets are $40 for a mother and son pair and $5 for each additional son. A professional 8×10 photograph may be taken at the event for $20. Proceeds from the Mother and Son Valentine Ball  and the 19th Annual Father and Daughter Valentine Ball will go to The Public Theatre, which provides professional theatre and arts education and outreach.
