1939 – 2015

LEWISTON — Joyce L. Chick, 75, of Strong, died Thursday, Feb. 12, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 5, 1939, a daughter of Lloyd and Eleanor (Pinkham) Hinkley, growing up in a home of seven children. She was educated in Strong Schools, graduating in 1957.

Upon graduation, she worked at Hartford Insurance before moving back home and getting married in 1961 to her loving husband, Douglas Chick. Together they raised a family.

Joyce was employed at Foster Manufacturing Co. for several years and then worked at Farmington Shoe. In 1972, she started her own ceramics business and taught classes out of her home until 1987.

Joyce had an artistic flare; along with her ceramics, she loved painting. Joyce enjoyed camping and had many interests, but her biggest passion in life was her family. She loved having family gatherings, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping in touch with family on the computer and especially loved her cat, Mindy.
