NORWAY — An open observatory night will be held on the first Monday of each month at Twitchell Observatory on Hooper Ledge Road.
It is free and open to the public. Experience the wonders of the night sky: moons, suns, planets, clusters, nebula and more.
Volunteers operate the telescope on the first clear Monday of each month, September through May. Cloudy skies postpone to the following Monday until a clear Monday is obtained.
The observatory also opens for special, astronomical events. Bring any telescopes and binoculars, and dress for the weather. A warming hut is available.
Large groups are invited to make separate arrangements. For more information, go to www.twitchellobservatory.org/home.
Directions: In South Paris, from the intersection of Route 119/Hebron Road and Route 117/Buckfield Road, turn left onto Buckfield Road. Travel one mile, watching for a yellow and black sign on the right (curve warning with “Hooper Ledge Road” printed at the bottom). Take the next left after that sign, at the streetlight, onto Hooper Ledge Road, which is not well-marked. Travel 0.4 miles and turn right at the observatory sign.
