The Stadler Gallery in Kingfield will open its summer season with exhibitions of work by Steve Pennisi of Westbrook and Melita Westerlund of Bar Harbor. Pennisi explores the quiver point between life and death, happiness and sadness, light and shadow. He believes he needs to examine the shadow side with unabating courage in order to live up to his responsibility as an artist and a human being. Westerlund’s “Mix & Match” features handcast paper and small sculptures created out of wool and steel. Her vivacious approach and colorful pieces celebrate her artistic spirit. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7. The exhibitions will be on view through June 30 daily from noon to 4 p.m., or by appointment.
