LEWISTON — The Franco Center will host its next session of “French for Teen” classes, beginning Thursday, March 26. The twice-a-month get-together consists in a 90-minute session running from 6 to 8 p.m.

Subsequent classes will be held on the first and third Thursdays of each month through into early June. A full schedule of classes is available by contacting the Franco Center.

The intention is to provide an opportunity for teens to do some activities in French that give them a basic knowledge of the language as well as some of the local Franco-American and other French-speaking cultures and/or to practice what they already know in a relaxed setting.

The French Heritage Language Program curriculum is used as one of the support for the activities offered. The FHLP curriculum provides quality fun by offering a wide range of activities based in culture. Interactive games, word-play, music, songs and movies are major components of the session.

The course is be taught by Jacynthe Jacques, a native of Quebec who has lived in the Lewiston area for almost 20 years.

In keeping with the Franco Center and FHLP’s commitment to bring quality fun to as many young people as possible, classes are offered free through grants from the French American Cultural Exchange (FACE) and the French Heritage Language Program (FHLP) in New York.
