BATH – “In the spring of 1983, I fell in love with a dead woman and a living bridge.” So says Kevin O’Leary, artistic director of Bath’s Lanyard Theatre Company, of his new play, “The Chief Engineer,” a historical romance about the builders of the Brooklyn Bridge.

O’Leary’s play opens on Friday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m., at the Chocolate Church and is a world premiere event – the fifth new play in two years produced by Lanyard, Maine’s only theater company devoted exclusively to productions of original plays. O’Leary’s play, “Has Anyone Seen Richard Mangione?” was Lanyard’s inaugural work in December 2005.
