One or the most interesting automobilists in Lewiston is Mrs. Wealthy Murch of White street, who is in her seventy-second year. This season Mrs. Murch has purchased a Ford runabout and is driving it herself. For five years or over Mrs. Murch has been a frequent passenger in the cars of her son-in-law and her son. When riding Murch has always been interested in the mechanism of the car, has studied its make-up, and had come to very well understand the driving of a machine, tho she never handled the wheel until she sat in her own runabout. She is wonderfully level headed, has good common sense, and not the least bit of fear. Physically her condition is excellent and she is just as competent of managing her car as is Miss Bernice Nelke, fifteen years old, who represents the other extreme of automobilists in Lewiston.

A crew from the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department today was hard at work trying to put the baseball field at Pettengill Park, Auburn, into useable condition. The park, mostly underwater for the past month or more, had barely dried out sufficiently for use and today’s rain was likely to cancel out any action scheduled there for at least a couple of days. In recent weeks, when water over the left field area of the ballpark was some ten inches to a foot deep, youngsters in the area tore down portions of the fence surrounding the playing field and used the lumber to construct rafts with which they sailed about the park.

A judge on Tuesday dismissed part of a lawsuit in which the operators of a restaurant at the Lewiston Raceway are suing the track for more than $1.5 million in damages because it shut down for racing. Justice Donald G. Alexander ruled in Androscoggin County Superior Court that a written lease between Top of the Track Associates and Lewiston Raceways did not specify that the raceway must continue to race as part of the lease agreement. The filing of the suit came shortly after the track withdrew its application for this year’s racing dates.
