FARMINGTON — Three people accused of stealing guns, medical marijuana and cash in April from a Rangeley resident were indicted Thursday.

Danielle Nelson, 25, and Kevin O’Donnell, 25, both of Lisbon, and Steven Sharpley, 21, of Lewiston were indicted on felony counts of theft of a firearm and burglary, and a misdemeanor charge of stealing drugs.

The Franklin County grand jury also indicted Nelson on a felony charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. O’Donnell was also indicted on a misdemeanor charge of violation of bail.

The three are accused of stealing a loaded .40-caliber handgun and three rifles, medical marijuana from a locked safe, two televisions, cash and a Sony PlayStation 3, Rangeley police Chief Dennis Leahy said in April.

The victim told police he had kicked out Nelson, who had been living with him, and dropped her off the day before the burglary at Webster Road in Lisbon with her belongings, Leahy said. Nelson called the man later and told him he needed to return the rest of her belongings and to meet her the next day on April 4 at the Auburn Mall in Auburn, Leahy had said.

The man went to the mall but Nelson was not there. He contacted her and she said she couldn’t get there at that time but to wait for her, Leahy previously said.

Nelson had keys to the man’s property and knew where the guns, cash and marijuana were kept, the chief previously said.

When the man discovered the burglary after returning home, he contacted police.

The victim had a cellphone contact number that turned out to belong to O’Donnell, so Sgt. Jared Austin and Leahy contacted Androscoggin County dispatchers and the cellphone was tracked to Motel 6 in Lewiston, Leahy said.

Rangeley police contacted the Lewiston Police Department, who were familiar with the couple. Officers went to the motel and found Nelson and O’Donnell and some of the stolen items.

Sharpley was implicated in the burglary during an interview with Nelson. The guns were stored at his mother’s residence, according to Leahy.

Several law enforcement agencies including Lewiston, Lisbon and Androscoggin County assisted Rangeley to find the suspects.
