BRUNSWICK – The Second Friday Art Walk will open Friday, May 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Bowdoin College campus where students’ work can be seen in end-of-the-year exhibitions. In addition, 25 art venues will keep their doors open late for the first Brunswick art walk of the season.
Seven group shows are open on campus at the McClellan building on Union Street and at Fort Andross. Work includes “Cinco,” a senior exhibition by five Bowdoin seniors, as well as photography, painting, sculpture, installations, video and architecture. Public art exhibitions include models and renderings of proposals for public art projects for Woodside Elementary School in Topsham.
Several new sites participating in the art walk include the studios of Robin Brooks and Mark Hensley, a group show at Sweet Leaves Tea House, photographs at 111 Maine St., and a major sculptural installation by Wade Kavanaugh at Fort Andross’ Coleman Burke Gallery.
Evening performances are also part of the event. They include “Movement and Sound Improvisation” by Armen Moradians and Alicia Yip, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Cabot Mill Gallery; and “Our Town” at The Theater Project, beginning at 8 p.m. (suggested ticket price: $15; for reservations, call 729-8584)
