• Game Warden George W. Ross, during the month of December, counted 300 barrels of dead hares going to Boston and New York markets over the Washington County Railway. Furthermore, it is estimated by the game wardens that more than 1,000,000 hares are shipped from the state of Maine every year and as many more used as food within the state. Notwithstanding this, and the fact that thousands of hares are devoured every year by beasts and birds of prey, this small animal continues to increase.
• At the close of business at 6 o’clock, the co-worker employees of the Great Department Store assembled in the millinery parlors and after listening to words of encouragement and advice were very agreeably surprised when H. A. Free, the treasurer, made the announcement in behalf of the board of management that each member would be given a 10 percent cash dividend on their salary.

An accident which happened on Court Street, Auburn, a week ago, has been reported to Auburn police after the drivers obtained estimates on the damage to their vehicles. One car operated by Thaddee Caron, 53, of 213 Center St., had damage to the rear estimated at $82.50, while the other, a station wagon operated by Lucille P. Ouellette, 48 Mower Ave., Lewiston, had damage of $54 to the left parking light and fender.

“Looks like a late spring this year, more snow on the way, with cold rains into April.” That’s the word from Armand Violette, a weather observer for more than 40 years in the northern Oxford County town of Rumford, who has compiled and compared his statistics and released his outlook for spring.
• Pack-Man is himself only about 5 years old. He has no hair on his round, yellow head, and in most versions he has no feet. According to a cover article in “Time” magazine, Americans “did video” to the tune of $5 billion last year alone. A good share of that money wound up as quarters plunked into Pac-Man machines.
