YWCA offers women’s swim class
LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will hold another Single Gender Women’s Swim Class. The class will run Saturdays, June 27 to Aug. 1, from 12:15 to 1 p.m.
The Single Gender swim program was created for women ages 14 and older to pursue learning to swim in a women-only environment. Created with privacy in mind, this class is intentionally designed to meet the needs of women’s cultural and personal requirements through offering a women-only space and the option to wear clothing in the water that is not restricted to traditional Western swimsuits.
The men’s locker room will be closed, and only female lifeguards and teaching staff will be present. Additionally, the viewing windows are curtained off, to insure that the pool space will not be visible to other members and staff in the building.
The class will teach water safety skills and beginning swim skills.
