After winning her heat in the morning qualifying event of the 100 meter dash in the New Balance Nationals Outdoor track championships in Greensboro North Carolina, Kate Hall, of Casco a recent graduate of Lake Region High School placed third behind Jayla Kirkland of Alabama won the event in 11.33. Twanisha Terry of South Carolina was second in 11.34 during a driving rain. Hall’s 11.37 was a personal best.
Athletes from all over the country descended upon North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina to compete for the national championships in 95 degree weather with high humidity and intermitent downpours. Hall, who many believe is the best female athlete to come out of Maine, will be heading to Iowa State this fall.
Hall will compete in the long jump Sunday afternoon.
