After the performance at the Empire theatre there will be a ladies Wood-Sawing Contest, in which the winners will be given three cash prizes. First the ladies will saw their pieces of wood, and from the original number, the first three winners will be picked, then these winners will compete for cash prizes. This arrangement will be longer, more interesting, more amusing, and will make the women work more strenuously. The evening will also be Gentlemen’s Night, when any man may be admitted free, provided he purchases his ticket before six o’clock, and accompanies a lady.

A new corporation, Continental Mills CO., has been formed, according to a certificate of organization filed at the Androscoggin County Registry of Deeds. The new corporation, Continental Mills CO., was organized Dec. 11 to manufacture, produce, buy, sell and generally in any manner deal in and with textile fabrics; to deal in stocks and bonds; to buy or otherwise acquire good will, business, property rights, franchises and other assets; to license others to carry on the several businesses; to construct, maintain, own, lease and operate railroads; and to make and carry out contracts; among other services.

The Supreme Court barred a group of high school students from using a vacant classroom for prayer meetings before class, and dealt a possibly serious blow to hundreds of thousands of Vietnam veterans with claims against the makers of the defoliant Agent Orange. Action in the prayer case came a week after the justices ruled that state colleges must allow student groups to worship and hold religious discussions in campus buildings if other student groups are allowed access.
An increasing number of Canadians are having their vehicles converted to use propane instead of gasoline, despite an initial cost that can be more than $2,500.
