‘Dancing’ star becomes a dad

“Dancing with the Stars” viewer favorite John O’Hurley is a brand-new father.

“At 11:18 p.m. on Wednesday, Lisa O’Hurley gave birth to a healthy 7-lb., 15-oz., 21-inch baby boy named William Dylan O’Hurley,” says the actor’s publicist, Liza Anderson, according to People. “It is the first child for the couple, who couldn’t be more thrilled.”

O’Hurley also had his other baby, the book “It’s Okay to Miss the Bed on the First Jump: And Other Life Lessons I Learned from Dogs,” become a New York Times bestseller the same day.

“We can’t believe that we could love something as we do – our new little boy,” says O’Hurley. “The dogs still aren’t sure about the baby, but they are really happy about the book becoming a bestseller.”

The couple wed in August 2004 and currently live in Beverly Hills with their dogs. O’Hurley, 49, was previously married to soap actress Eva LaRue for two years.

Although he’s a daytime TV veteran, O’Hurley made his first big impression as the eloquent yet pompous catalog king J. Peterman on “Seinfeld,” for which he earned a Screen Actors Guild award for best ensemble. This also led to numerous advertising campaigns.

In 2005, he became even more popular on ABC’s ballroom dance reality show “Dancing with the Stars,” for which he was voted the runner-up after fellow contestant Kelly Monaco wowed the judges and created a fan uproar. Several months later, viewers selected O’Hurley as the winner in a televised rematch.

O’Hurley starred as Billy Flynn in Broadway’s “Chicago” earlier this year. He also hosts “Family Feud.”

‘Heroes’ co-star joins Fox’s ‘Terminator’ pilot

The fate of the world may now be in Thomas Dekker’s hands.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dekker has been cast as humanity’s savior John Connor in Fox’s “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” a small screen extension of the popular “Terminator” franchise.

“The Sarah Connor Chronicles” takes place in-between the events of “Terminator 2” and “Terminator 3” and follows Sarah and 15-year-old son John Connor as they prepare to save the world or something of that ilk.

Expect the Josh Friedman-scripted pilot to further confuse a timeline that has already set several different dates for Judgment Day (8/29/97 and 7/24/04 in particular) and, if you’ll recall, mourned Sarah Connor’s passing in 1997.

Warner Bros. TV is producing the pilot, which will be shot early next year with David Nutter (“Roswell,” “Smallville”) at the helm.

Lena Headey was previously cast as Sarah. The 33-year-old Headey will make for an interesting maternal pairing with Dekker, who turns 19 later this month.

Dekker is probably best known for his recurring turn as Zach, friend and videographer to Hayden Panettiere’s death-defying cheerleader. He’s also done guest or recurring turns on “Shark,” “House,” “7th Heaven” and “Boston Public.”

Rebecca Romijn gets ‘Ugly’

“Ugly Betty,” meet beautiful Rebecca.

Rebecca Romijn is joining the already large cast of ABC’s “Ugly Betty” as a series regular. She’ll make her first appearance on the series sometime early next year.

The network says she’ll be playing the mysterious masked woman who’s been plotting with Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) to take control of Mode magazine from the Meade family. Presumably the casting of Romijn, a former model, will mean the mask is coming off.

And for the record, that hasn’t been Romijn who’s been swathed in giant sunglasses and a surgical mask all season. An actress named Elizabeth Penn Payne has been credited as “Masked Woman” in seven episodes thus far.

Romijn is probably best known as the shape-shifting Mystique in the three “X-Men” films. She also starred in The WB’s series “Pepper Dennis” last spring. Her other screen credits include “Femme Fatale,” “The Punisher” and a recurring part on “Just Shoot Me.”

The addition of Romijn to “Betty” brings the show’s number of regular cast members to 12. The show also has a number of recurring characters, including executive producer Salma Hayek, who plays the editor of another magazine in the Meade Publications empire.

‘Weeds’ actor Nealon, wife expecting child

“Saturday Night Live” alum Kevin Nealon will soon be staying up late again – tending to a baby.

The “Weeds” actor and his wife, actress Susan Yeagley, are expecting their first child together, reports People.

Nealon first mentioned the happy news on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

Nealon, 53, and Yeagley, 34, are both animal rights activists who don’t eat meat. They wed in Bellagio, Italy, in September 2005.

Yeagley trained at the Groundlings improv theater and has appeared as a guest star on a number TV shows. She and her husband hosted this year’s “World’s Funniest Commercials.”

When he isn’t appearing in his pal Adam Sandler’s movies, Nealon is a regular on Showtime’s “Weeds” as city councilman Doug Wilson.
