A single-engine airplane made an emergency landing Saturday on I-95 in Houlton, police reported.
Craig Maynard, 56, the owner of the 1961 Cessna 172 had radioed a “Mayday” call from his aircraft at about 12:30 p.m. saying he had lost power and was forced to land in the northbound side of the interstate highway.
The plane’s engine had problems after taking off from Houlton International Airport, according to Steve McCausland, spokesman for Maine State Police.
Maynard tried to return to the airport, but the engine lost power and stalled, McCausland wrote in a press release.
The plane was towed with Sate police escort back to the Houlton airport. No injuries or damage to the plane were reported.
Passengers on the plane included: Rodney Maynard, 77 (co-owner,) and Cortney Maynard, 24.
