Scanning the supermarket shelves, I noticed frozen-food entrees emblazoned with a “0 Trans Fat” label.

Curious, I stopped at the chicken nuggets section. Yes, all the boxes had no trans fats – the partially hydrogenated oils that can cause heart disease. But they’re hardly fat free.

Case in point: Banquet’s Frozen Crispy Chicken Variety Pack. One serving has 21 fat grams, one-third of your daily allowance. Moreover, 5 grams – or 25 percent of your daily intake – come from saturated fats, which also boost your cholesterol levels.

So read the fine print before you fall for the bright labels.
