LEWISTON – The Dempsey Challenge has announced a new Family Ride as part of the weekend of events to be held Oct. 17 and 18.
The Family Ride is a two-mile, closed bicycle road ride that will begin and end at Simard-Payne Park on Sunday, Oct. 18. The ride was created to give families and younger children the opportunity to experience the Dempsey Challenge on a smaller scale, similar to the popular Kids’ Fun Run that takes place Saturday of the event weekend.
The Family Ride will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m., just after those participating in the 10-mile ride have been released. Tricycles or bikes with training wheels are not allowed on the Family Ride or any Dempsey Challenge ride.
The Family Ride is free, but pre-registration is requested by filling out the form at www.dempseychallenge.org/kids-fun-run.
As with the Kids’ Fun Run, children pre-registered for the Family Ride prior to Oct. 1 will receive a free t-shirt.
