L-A Greek Festival this week

LEWISTON — Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 155 Hogan Road, Lewiston, is holding its annual Greek Festival. The event features Greek foods, drink and entertainment, children’s activities and a shopping bazaar. All are invited to join the traditional dancing at the taverna with authentic Greek music. Free admission.

The Festival is held rain or shine. Parking available behind the church.

Festival hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12.

Quilting class offered in Monmouth

MONMOUTH — An autumn quilting class will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 15 and continuing until Dec. 1 at the Packard Activity Center (under the United Church of Monmouth on Main Street).

The class will feature nine-patch or double nine-patch or 16 diagonal patch. Cost is $25 for the 12-week class. A pattern, instructions and assistance are part of the class. All proceeds will benefit the United Church of Monmouth.

Kevin Lewis appearing at LPL

LEWISTON — Kevin Lewis, CEO, Community Health Options, will appear as part of the Great Falls Forum lecture series from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, in Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.

The topic will be, “Moving Beyond Coverage Toward Reducing the Total Cost of Care.” A question-and-answer session will follow. Free. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.

Color the Night Away at LPL

LEWISTON — Teens and adults are invited to spend a few hours at the Lewiston Public Library, coloring the night away. The event will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. There will be multiple coloring pages as well as colored pencils, markers and crayons. Soothing music and refreshments will help participants relax and enjoy some personal time.

Supplies are provided but participants may bring their own.

Lifetree Cafe to look at ‘hidden homeless’

LEWISTON — The daily struggles and experiences of the homeless population will be explored at Lifetree Cafe at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at 1919 Lisbon Road.

The program, “A Day in the Life of the Hidden Homeless,” features a filmed interview with Latoshia Jackson, a mother of eight who has been homeless for the past year. Jackson became homeless after her Memphis, Tennessee, home was destroyed by a tornado.

Admission to the hourlong event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.
