Crafts show seeks vendors

FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington’s annual Arts and Crafts Show is seeking artists and crafters from across Maine interested in exhibiting their original and creative work at this public show. This year’s event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the UMF Olsen Student Center on South Street.

The UMF Arts and Crafts Show serves as a rich opportunity for vendors to sell their handcrafted, one-of-a-kind art and gift items, clothing, hand-sewn crafts and holiday items.

Bethel Outing Club sale upcoming

BETHEL — The Bethel Outing Club Ski Sale will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Gould Academy Field House.

Those people interested in selling their equipment can pick up sale tags at the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce, located at Bethel Station, or at True North Adventureware on Rte 26 during business hours. Four tags are free; every tag after that is 25 cents. Put the price of the item on the tag and bring it to the Gould Field House starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Tags are also available at the ski sale that day at 50 cents per tag.

Proceeds from the sale will go to supporting Bethel Outing Club.

Rumford Library participating in Fire Safety Week

RUMFORD — The Rumford Fire Department will be at the Rumford Public Library at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, as part of Fire Safety week.

The children will see a firefighter in full-fire gear, explore the fire truck and see the fire hose in action during the Library’s regular story time. All area children are welcome.

Preschool Story Time Wednesdays

RUMFORD — Children 2 to 5 are invited to attend the preschool story times, held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. 

Children who attend will hear stories, songs and participate in activities, as well as make a take-home craft that reflects that week’s theme. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to have their children meet and interact with other preschoolers. Story times will not be held during school vacations or in the event of school cancellations.

Rumford Quilters to meet Oct. 8

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street. All area quilters welcome.

To participate in the fall fabric swap, bring 24 10-inch squares of 100 percent cotton fabric that has been washed and dried. The color motif is red, white or blue or a combination of those colors. Sleepers for Newborns in Need will be collected. Information will be provided for assembling tree decorations for the Festival of Trees.

Wilton community rummage sale

WILTON — A community rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the First Congregational Church on Main Street.

Gently recycled goods are available at bargain prices. Clean, used clothing and household items in good repair may be purchased by donations.
