AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., will host author/photographer Helen Peppe and author Chris Lombard at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Helen Peppe, author of “Pigs Can’t Swim,” and award-winning equine photographer, will present a humorous slideshow on photographing horses.
Peppe, who began photographing horses 25 years ago, will discuss why she still prefers photographing horses over any other animal. She will use images to illustrate when not to release the shutter. She will show attendees how horse handlers/riders interfere and rarely benefit shots if the goal is to capture the horse being a horse, so that the image evokes genuine emotion.
Chris Lombard will read from his memoir, “Land of the Horses.”
Lombard’s memoir chronicles his deep connection to horses. At first, Lombard thought he had it all — the cool apartment in a beautiful city, the great job, the incredible girlfriend. Life was easy, without challenge. He was then blindsided by a series of events that changed him forever. Heartbroken, jobless and broke, his life went to shambles. Then one day he had a chance encounter with a horse and something inside him was awakened. An undiscovered part of himself was revealed and now it was there begging him to have the courage to follow it. Lombard works as a horse trainer and clinician who works with people to help them better connect with their horses
Both writers will have their books available for sale and signing. There will be chocolates and cookies as well as signed books and horse prints as door prizes.
