Any Mainer interested in serious contemporary art will be heartened when reading the Sun Journal Encore articles (Nov.12) announcing the avant-garde music events at the University of Maine at Farmington which will take place this week.
The avant-garde direction of visual art has been accepted by Mainers for some time, of course, but Maine literature has remained very conservative. It is possible that the avant-garde music direction at UMF added to the visual art already presented by many of the state’s art galleries will help bring Maine literature into the 21st Century.
Congratulations to the University of Maine at Farmington.
