1937 – 2015

NORWAY — Robert J. “Bob” Bradley Sr., 78, nearly a lifelong resident of Rumford, died early Saturday morning, Nov. 14, at his home in Norway, where he had been living for the past year and a half, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on July 4, 1937, in Rumford, a son of Cletus and Loretta (Jacques) Bradley. He attended local schools, graduating from Stephens High School. On July 16, 1960, he married Claire Langlais at the Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius and St. John Church in Rumford.

They made their home in Rumford, where Bob served the town as a full-time firefighter for 25 years and a total of 33 years with part-time status. Beyond his work as a firefighter (which he was absolutely passionate about) he worked part time at various places over the years, including Dubois Ambulance

Service, Graves Furniture Store, Coulombe Funeral Home and later, S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, the Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius and St. John as the sexton, and the Rumford Public Works Department.

He also served on the Board of Selectman for the Town of Rumford for many years. Bob was a longtime communicant and Eucharistic minister at the Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius and St. John; was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rumford Fireman’s Relief Association, and the Western Maine Firefighters Association.

He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed helping friends and neighbors by plowing their driveways and watching wrestling on TV.

He leaves behind his loving family, including his wife, Claire of Norway; children, Luanne Godin and her husband, Mike, of Norway, Linda Bradley and her significant other, Larry Bennett, of Rumford Point, and Robert Bradley Jr. of Brunswick; and his beloved dog, Snookie Bradley; grandchildren, Mike Jr., David, Hope and her fiance, Cody Wilson, Scott and his girlfriend, Natasha Justard, Melissa and her husband, Joel Gilbert, Dylan, Dalton and his companion, Bailey Keating, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Noah, Evelyn, and “one on the way”; siblings, Patricia Daigle of Rumford, Theresa Bradley of Rumford, twin, Albert Bradley of Rumford, Benny Bradley of Mexico, and Herbie Bradley of Florida.

He was predeceased by siblings, Donnie, Alphonse, Jeanette, and Gloria Bradley.
