FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners Monday unanimously approved a $1.16 million budget for 2016-17 for the unorganized territory.
The budget will go to the state for review. Commissioners are required to approve the budget by Dec. 31 and send it to the state for approval. If accepted, it will go into effect July 1, 2016.
The proposed spending package is $18,988 less than the current budget. It is well below the spending cap, County Clerk Julie Magoon said.
The budget was submitted to the state fiscal administrator for review prior to Monday’s public hearing, and there were no questions, she said.
There were also no questions during the hearing.
“I thought the budget was set up very well this year,“ Commissioner Clyde Barker of Strong said.
Chairman Gary McGrane of Jay asked Magoon to thank the towns involved in the budget.
The tax assessment for the unorganized territory would be $998,235 if it’s approved at the state level, according to information provided by Magoon.
