LEWISTON — Geiger Elementary teachers Jennifer Groover and Lauren King started a drama club three years ago for students in their school. This year they will be putting on a full production of “Suessical the Musical Jr.” just in time for Dr, Seuss’ birthday and Read Accross America Day.
The production has united the community. Groover and King, who have volunteered their time with the club, are being assisted by other Geiger teachers, parents and grandparents. From the Lewiston High School, a student acts as the choreographer while another assists with acting lessons. Lewiston Middle School students created sets, which include pieces that were shared by Auburn’s Edward Little High School drama department after their Seussical production in 2015. Volunteers from Community Little Theater assisted with lights and sound, and the Lewiston Education Fund and Geiger PTO assisted with financial assistance.
Shows are set for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5, at the Geiger School gymnasium. Tickets can only be purchased at the door for $5 for adults, $2 for children and free for those younger than two.
