MEXICO — Residents can go online to view winter road conditions in town, Police Chief Roy Hodsdon told selectmen Tuesday night.

The Police Department has begun posting town road conditions on its Facebook page, he said. Officers note the conditions, with the help of the highway department, and even post road photos.

“We’ve already gotten between one- and two-thousand hits,” Hodsdon said.

Board members lauded the effort.

In his monthly report, Hodsdon said the department responded to 95 incidents in February — 44 more than at this time last year. Of those, 16 involved burglary and theft.

“We solved a majority of those,” he said.

From the department’s year-end report, Hodsdon said there was $149,446 in property stolen in 2015. Of that, he said his department recovered $121,951 worth, or 92 percent.

Board members unanimously approved a cash forfeiture of $934, the Police Department’s share following a recent multiagency drug investigation. Hodsdon said the money will go into an account used for other drug investigations.

In other business, Selectman Reggie Arsenault said he observed two vehicles going too fast along the street in back of the Town Office. The board approved his recommendation of placing three 15 mph signs in that area.

Town Manager John Madigan said officials began posting several roads Monday to prohibit heavy vehicles from using them until June 1. The state has also posted some roads in Mexico.
