HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society recently hosted antique bottle and glass authority Walt Bannon at its monthly meeting.
Bannon, of Bridgton, is owner of the Maine Antique Bottle and Glass Museum in Naples. His collection has been visited by over 2,000 people from around the world.
Bannon is also the author of a book, “Digger Down: The Thrills and Spills of an Antique Bottle Collector,” detailing many of his adventures as well as serving as a guide in helping readers pursue their own bottle collecting hobby.
He discussed many of his bottle digging adventures, which often included scuba diving in rivers and streams to recover glass treasures from the bottom alluvial deposits. He brought and displayed many items he found in surrounding towns.
The next meeting will feature Larry Glatz, who will speak on the topic “Was Baseball Really Invented in Hebron?” The event will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Town Office, 351 Paris Road. The public is invited.
