FARMINGTON — Henderson Memorial Baptist Church has announced its upcoming Holy Week services.

The church will host its Maundy Thursday communion and Tenebrae service at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24.

The service will include a brief meditation and remembrance of the Last Supper. The Tenebrae portion of the service involves reading scripture passages from Luke describing the events which took place after the Last Supper, from the arrest of Jesus to his crucifixion. After every reading, a candle symbolizing the Light of the World is extinguished.

The church will host a joint Easter breakfast with Summit Faith Church at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at 110 Academy St.

Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will move upstairs to the sanctuary by 9:30 a.m. for a celebration of the resurrection. Everyone is welcome. The Rev. Susan Crane will preach on “Jesus Lives!” The choir, directed by Daniel Woodward, will sing “Because He Lives,” while the congregation will sing favorite Easter hymns. Summit Faith Church will worship in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m. The community is welcome to attend either or both services.

The Community Easter Sunrise Service, sponsored by the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry, will begin at 6:29 a.m. Sunday, March 27, on Voter Hill. There will be bagpipes, singing and responsive worship. Service will be followed by hot coffee and pastries at a nearby home.
