The National Weather Service says freezing rain is moving out of western Maine, but the roads remain slick. Temperatures should rise this afternoon.
Here are some of the effects of Friday morning’s freezing rain:
- Androscoggin County Superior Court and Franklin County Superior Court delayed opening Friday.
- The National Weather Service has extended the freezing rain advisory until 1 p.m.
- CityLink has suspended bus service Friday morning until road conditions improve. (Update: Buses were to resume at 10:15 a.m.)
- Lewiston and Auburn schools have been called off.
- CMMC Health & Fitness Center cancelled classes.
- The Maine Turnpike has reduced its speeds to 45 mph.
- There are reports of slide-offs across the state.
- Rangeley Lakes Regional School is closed.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously.

UPDATED 10:15 a.m.: Citylink bus service announced it planned to re-start services Friday morning:
- 10:15 a.m. — Lewiston
- 10:45 a.m. — New Auburn and Auburn Mall
- 10:45 a.m. — Free shuttle
