MEXICO — Several law enforcement officers are participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Mexico Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said officers will set up on the second floor of the Town Office.
The Rumford and Dixfield Police departments will also participate in the Drug Take-Back Day.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office is setting up stations at 18 Mayville Road in Bethel, 26 Western Ave. in South Paris, and the Sacopee Valley Health Center in Porter.
Hart Daley, chief deputy of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, said people who want to protect their privacy can black out their information on the prescription pill bottles or containers with a permanent marker.
He said needles would not be accepted.
The Drug Take-Back Program is a national initiative formed through the federal Drug Enforcement Agency to curb the theft of prescription drugs and to remove the environmental hazard of drugs being flushed down toilets.
