New Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — New Auburn Seniors will meet at noon Monday, May 2, at Sacred Heart Church.

All activities will now be held at 11:30 a.m.

The meeting will be followed by lunch and bingo. Lunch will be beef stew. The meetings are held the first Monday of the month.

Open bingo for seniors will be held March 14 and 28, April 11 and 25 and May 9 and 23.

Those seniors who did not receive a 2016 coffee cup may bring their old one any Monday and they will be filled for 62 cents.

Valley Cemetery Association to meet

GREENE — The annual meeting of the Valley Cemetery Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 2, at the town office.

Lot owners are welcome to attend and are reminded that old baskets and Christmas arrangements should be removed to facilitate spring cleanup.

Widows Fellowship to meet

LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church on School Street.

The gathering will be followed by a potluck lunch.

All interested widows in the area are invited to attend. The group meets the first Monday of each month, excluding holidays, when they meet the second Monday. 

Lisbon Rec offering Alaskan cruise

LISBON Falls — The Lisbon Recreation Department will offer a land and sea Alaskan cruise for July 2017.

The dates for the cruise are July 22 to Aug. 2, 2017. The cruise is a four-day land and seven-day cruise aboard the Island Princess.

Travelers will fly into Fairbanks, Alaska, where they will enjoy Alaska Riverways and Discovery Gold Tours. Then the tour will travel to Denali National Park for two days via coach where travelers will take a tour into the park to see wildlife.

From there we will take a rail journey to Whittier to board the ship. After boarding the ship, the group will visit Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay Scenic Cruising, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan to our final destination of Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Recreation Department will have an informational night to discuss this trip at at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the MTM Center, 18 School St., in room 10.

Organic gardening at the Ark

LEWISTON — The Ark & Olive Branch Cafe will host an organic gardening forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at 791 Lisbon St.

A panel of four experienced organic gardeners will lead the forum. Beginners and experienced gardeners will learn special tips and secrets and have the opportunity to ask questions.

The event is free, but registration is required. Heirloom seeds for sale.

Cribbage league lists winners

LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners on April 21 were, first place, Roger Labbe and Henry Maheux; second, Leo Bergeron and Judy Sirois; third, Mickie Farnum and Sandra Oliver; fourth, Gene Brown and Cecilia Treworgy; and, fifth, Richard Champagne and Dwight Webb.

The Seniors play on Thursdays at the Lewiston Memorial Armory.
