WOODSTOCK — Curator Larry Billings showed photos and postcards of his travels years ago in Tennessee, Michigan and Maine at the June meeting of the Woodstock Historical Society.
Attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., Billings saw the state capital building, a copy of the Parthenon in Centennial Park, Andrew Jackson’s plantation, the Hermitage, and the Grand Ole Opry.
Teaching at Mid-Westerns Baptist College in Michigan, he visited Cranbrook, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn. In the museum, he saw all the Ford models and America’s most famous styles of furniture. In the village was Ford’s birthplace, Edison’s laboratory, a manor house, a plantation and Noah Webster’s house.
