PARIS — The Vikings boys’ lacrosse team defeated St. Dom’s at the Gouin Athletic Facility in Paris on Tuesday, May 3, to notch their second straight victory.

The boys battled for this win right from the start of the game.

St. Dom’s took a 2-0 lead less than four minutes into the first quarter.

Oxford Hills responded with a strong defensive move by Deven Rogers to gain control of the ball, leading to a goal by Finn Williamson to get them within one goal with three minutes left in the first quarter.

The first quarter ended with a 2-1 St. Dom’s lead.

Williamson struck again for the Vikings quickly at the start of quarter two, tying the game at 2-2.

St. Dom’s came right back to make it 3-2 before Oxford Hills’ Kelton Loper would tie it back up at three by finding the back of the net at the 6:28 mark of quarter two.

St. Dom’s responded with three goals of their own within a two minute time period and went into the halftime break with a 6-3 lead.

The Viking defense shut down St. Dom’s in the third quarter not giving up any goals.

This gave Oxford Hills the chance to score on four occasions in the third. Loper scored the first two goals followed by Williamson to tie the game at 6-6 with 4:08 left. The Vikings then scored another goal to take the lead at 1:21.

Oxford Hills dominated the fourth quarter as Loper made it 8-6, Vikings, at the 8:23 mark.

St. Dom’s made it 8-7 a minute later but that was the last time they scored as both the Oxford Hills’ defense, led by Ty Wyman and goalie Zach Rideout, stopped everything that came at them the rest of the game.

Loper added on to the lead by scoring again at 3:36 and Williamson repeated again at 1:50 of the fourth for the final 10-7 score.

Rideout helped secure the victory with three big saves in the last two minutes.

Loper and Williamson split the scoring with five goals apiece.
