Jay offering ATV Safety Course

JAY — The Jay Police Department is offering a free ATV Safety Course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18, in the cafeteria of Spruce Mountain Middle School on Community Drive.

The course is open for residents and nonresidents. Registration is required.

Children younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Each participant should bring a lunch.

Annual bike ride in Norway 

NORWAY — Oxford County Moves is hosting its second annual Roads Are For Everyone Bike Ride at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the parking lot behind Fare Share Co-op at 443 Main St.

There are three routes to choose from: a 17-mile loop, a 23-mile loop and a shorter family-friendly ride.

The shorter route will be a guided group ride suitable for young riders as well as those with less experience with group rides. The longer routes include a few challenging hills and will reward riders with quiet farmland scenery and peaceful roads. All routes start and end in downtown. Rummage sale in Norway

NORWAY — A rummage sale will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at St. Catherine’s Church hall, 32 Paris St.

Items available include a good selection of summer clothing and white elephant items.

Proceeds will be used to support the free Thanksgiving Day dinner held each year at the church.

SeniorsPlus to visit Norway, Fryburg

NORWAY/FRYEBURG —Represetatives from SeniorsPlus will visit the Norway and Fryeburg to answer questions and concerns community members may have about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.

Norway: 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Norway Town Office.

Fryeburg: 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, May 23, at the Fryebug Public Library.

Meeting with representatives is free and open to the public.

NPFGA to vote on bylaw change

PARIS — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association will meet at at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the clubhouse, 744 Buckfield Road.

There will be a potluck supper followed by a business meeting.

Members will discuss and vote on a by-law change regarding admission for veterans. 

Also on the agenda, Chelsea Lathrope will, a four-year recipient of the association’s scholarship, who is graduating from Unity College, will visit.

Final plans for the Gun Show May 21 and 22will be confirmed, including volunteer sign-up. 

‘Into the Woods: Maine Warden Service’

ANDOVER — Brock Clukey will speak about his work with the Maine Warden Service at the next Mahoosuc Land Trust’s Into the Woods Speaker Series at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Andover Elementary School.

Since 1880, when Maine’s moose and deer were first given legal protection, the Maine Warden Service has carried on its mission to conserve the state’s natural resources, particularly fish and wildlife. Side by side with this mission is a commitment to serve and protect the public. The wardens do this work through education, community involvement, law enforcement and search and rescue for those who venture into Maine’s woodlands and inland waterways.

Horse Shoe Club meeting
