PARIS — Oxford Hills’ “Early Evening Show” will return for the season with a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Celebration Barn Theater, 190 Stock Farm Road, South Paris.
New shows are the first Saturday of every month through October.
The “Early Evening Show“ is a spoof of late-night talk shows hosted by Mike Miclon.
This year, Miclon has big plans for a whole new slate of characters and sketches.
“Fans of the ‘Early Evening Show’ will be familiar with the format, but we’ll be pushing the envelope with each performance to dig back into the fun work of delighting and surprising the audience with each new show,” Miclon said.
June’s performance will feature special guest performers Maya and Brent McCoy, a husband and wife team and Celebration Barn alumni. The McCoys, both well-versed in circus arts, currently tour the world with their street performance show, “Her Majesty’s Secret Circus,” in addition to performing in and organizing Vermont vaudeville performances in their home state.
“The Early Evening Show” has been performed from Maine to Switzerland and built its reputation with a 14-year run at the Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield. The show comes complete with an eccentric cast of characters, including Dickie Hyper-Hynie, Moto Hoonchbach and the Early Evening Show Orchestra.
The show’s wild improvisations, surprise guests and audience interactions have made it the longest-running live variety show in Maine.
Tickets cost $14 for adults, $12 for ages 60 and older and $8 for ages 17 and younger. All tickets are general admission; members receive priority seating. Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.
