AUBURN — The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston has announced its June programs for children and adults. All programs take place at 62 Turner St. unless noted.
Summer hours become effective Tuesday, May 31. Hours are 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday.
New Group Core: Beginning Monday, June 6, this new 30-minute class focuses on core muscles to build total body strength. Those interested may see the group exercise schedule online for class times. Group classes are free for members, and cost $8 on a drop-in basis for adult nonmembers.
Youth Strength & Foundations: Two instructors (male and female) will lead teens through the fundamentals of exercise and building a training plan. This is designed for off-season athletes and new exercisers alike. The program runs from Monday, June 20, to Friday, July 1, for ages 12 to 15. Classes meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cost is $50 for members and $65 for nonmembers.
Dempsey Family Rides: This is free and open to all ages. The group meets Sundays through June 26 at the parking lot of Bates Mill No. 5 in Lewiston. FMI: [email protected].
Summer Camps: Space is filling fast for the Y’s signature Camp Connor (grades one to eight), Teen Leadership Camp (grades nine and 10) and Y Kids Camp (grades kindergarten to five). Families can sign up by the week. Sessions run June 20 to Aug. 26. Prices vary by camp, and financial assistance is available to qualifying households.
Gymnastics: This is for youths ages 3½ through teens. Sessions run June 28 to July 21. Fees range from $34 to $53 by age group. Program meets at Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave., Lewiston. Financial assistance is available to qualifying households.
Youth Swim Lessons: This eight-week session begins Monday, June 27. Multiple days and times are available. Program is for children ages six months through 12 years. Registration opens Monday, June 13.
Adult Basketball: Pickup games take place multiple times a week. All are welcome. Those interested may see the gymnasium schedule online for times. This is free to members and costs $3 for nonmembers.
Preregistration is required for most events and programs. Some fees apply, and financial assistance is available for qualifying individuals and families.
