1947 – 2016

MEXICO — Gerald E. Drinkuth, 68, died Tuesday, May 24,  at his residence on Drinkuth Lane in Mexico.

Born in Paterson, N.J., on June 23, 1947, he was a son of Eugene and Luella (Howard) Drinkuth. He was a graduate of College High School in Montclair, N.J., and the University of Maine at Orono, with a mechanical engineering degree. He worked for Oxford Paper Co. and Bancroft Contracting Corp. and then became self-employed.

Jerry was a member of the Mexico Planning Board and was a member and former trustee of the Mexico Congregational Church. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed being troop leader while his son was in Scouts. He also loved yardwork, physics, cooking, coaching baseball, grocery shopping and “oldies” music.

Jerry firmly believed that he could find — or invent— a solution to any problem. He loved his home and neighbors in the Backkingdom woods and he didn’t think life was complete without a dog at his side. We will most miss his quick wit, his smirk and his ability to find humor in any situation.

He was married in Cape Elizabeth on June 12, 1980, to Karen Sample who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include a son, Daniel, and his wife, Shayna, of Hope, R.I.; three daughters, Christina Raiser and her husband, Daniel, of New Castle, Pa., Susanna Drinkuth of Newton, N.H., and Molly Sunkle and her husband, Jason, of Strongsville, Ohio; grandchildren, Aiden, Jack, Luke, Samantha, Will and Liam; two brothers, Robert and his wife, Luz, of Vienna, Va., and William and his wife, Diana Tyler, of Amston, Conn.; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to sign the family guest book and share their thoughts, condolences and memories online at www.meaderandson.com.
