Before you let summer slip into August, you had better head down to Festival and Courthouse plazas to see what all the fuss is about, says a spokesman for L/A Arts.

As part of its Music in the Parks series, next week L/A Arts will offer two more free concerts. These are Tuesdays at noon in Festival Plaza, Main Street, Auburn, and Thursdays at noon in Courthouse Plaza, Lisbon Street, Lewiston.

On Tuesday, July 27, L/A Arts welcomes Sara Cox of Portland at Festival Plaza. She’s a singer-songwriter with a roots rock group, The Coming Grass.

On Thursday, July 29, Boreal Tordu, a Franco-American style band, will play in Courthouse Plaza.

These musicians bring back to Maine the Cajun music that originated here but made Louisiana famous.

If needed, rain dates are Wednesday in Auburn and Friday in Lewiston at the same time. For rain date rescheduling information, people can tune in to radio station CNN 1240.

Cox, who’s been singing her whole life, grew up in Nashville. She has been playing guitar and singing for The Coming Grass for the past five years, and her songs have earned her the attention of music lovers nationwide, according to the L/A Arts spokesman. An exceptional singer and musician, she has opened for contemporary musicians such as Gillian Welch, Po’Girl, Susanne Vega and Richard Buckner.

The Boreal Tordu band will bring Lewiston back to its Acadian roots. With the cohesive sounds of upright bass, fiddle, Dobro guitar and drums, Boreal Tordu is a rhythmically unstoppable and lyrically creative combo of two different regional styles.

Its musicians incorporate both the traditional music of the Acadian people and the Delta style of Louisiana and Cajun cadence.
