1932 – 2016
SOUTH PARIS — John H. Hall Jr., 83, of Rumford died Monday, Aug. 15, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.
He was born in Rumford, on Oct. 30, 1932, the son of John and Margaret (Waterhouse) Hall Sr., and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1950. From October 1950 to May 1954, he served with the U.S. Air Force.
John served as a postal clerk for many years, including as manager at the Auburn Postal Distribution Center and retired as postmaster in Rumford.
He was past master of Blazing Star Lodge No. 30, AF&AM; a member of SCORE; active with Meals on Wheels in the area and was a very active member of the Rumford First Baptist Church. He loved to spend time with his family and at camp on Mooselookmeguntic Lake. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
John was married in Rumford on April 27, 1957, to Mary J. Gigliotti who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include a daughter, Joan Libby and husband, Dale, of Buxton; three sons, John Hall of Mexico, Stephen Hall and wife, Lisa, of Rangeley, and David Hall of Hong Kong, China; a sister, Joan Hall of Buxton; a brother, Gilbert P. Hall and wife, Christine, of Scarborough; six grandchildren, Michael Hall and wife, Rachel, of Jacksonville, Fla., Cerissa Robinson and husband, Phil, of Standish, Ciara Libby of Buxton, Olivia and Connor Hall of Rangeley, and Ariel Guinn of Solon; and a great-grandson Eli Robinson of Standish.
