GRAY — The Maine Wildlife Park on Route 26 will hold an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1.
The event is geared toward people who have not visited the park and want to learn about it. It will also give visitors the chance to see active wildlife in the evening.
The volunteer gardeners who create and maintain our popular flower gardens will be available to share information about the park’s gardens, planters and hanging baskets, which are planted and maintained by volunteers.
In addition, the members of the Gems of Route 26 will be on hand with special exhibits and displays about the organizations that make up this local group. McLaughlin Garden & Homestead will have “lupine bombs,” seed packets of lupines prepared in a fertilizer ball ready for planting; and Sabbathday Lake Shakers will offer a selection of handcrafted culinary herbs and herbal teas, along with educational information about Shaker Village and its public programs.
